Writers I’d Drink With: Augusten Burroughs

Katy Maher hasn’t eaten anything with a face in over two decades. But she’s not a dick about it. She also hasn’t had a drink since 2001, and has lots to say about that.  Maher originally constructed her piece about writer Augusten Burroughs as a part of a series called “A Seat at the Bar”, in which a handful of writers wrote about grabbing a drink (or not) with a favorite writer. 

Excuse me.  Yes, I’m terribly sorry to interrupt you and your sparkling water drinking at this bar that I know you loathe because, well, we don’t imbibe anymore and this kind of thing is a big fat bore, but I need you to know a few things so you’ll just have to indulge me.  It’s ok, go ahead and read your book or listen to your music or whatever you need to do, but I’m going to spill it anyway.
